• Financial Information: Billing details, insurance coverage, and payment records.

2. Use of Information

The information we collect is used strictly for the following purposes:

• To assess your psychological health and develop appropriate treatment plans.
• To deliver individual, couples, family, or equine-assisted therapy.
• To communicate with you regarding appointments, clinical updates, or administrative matters.
• To process billing and process claims with your insurance provider, if applicable.
• To comply with legal and regulatory requirements imposed by the College of Alberta Psychologists.

3. Limits of Confidentiality

As psychologists, the information you share with us is strictly confidential. We will not release your records or speak to any third party about your care without your explicit written consent. However, there are specific legal and ethical exceptions where we are required to break confidentiality, including:

• If there is an imminent risk of serious bodily harm or death to yourself or another person.
• If there is suspected abuse or neglect of a child (under 18 years of age) or a vulnerable adult.
• If your records are subpoenaed by a court of law.
• If an urgent medical emergency requires the sharing of critical health information with medical personnel.

4. Security & Electronic Records (Jane App)

We take the protection of your data seriously. We utilize the Jane App for our electronic medical records (EMR) and booking system. Jane App is fully compliant with PIPEDA and provincial privacy legislation. Your health information is stored on secure, encrypted Canadian servers.

Physical records (if any) are stored in locked filing cabinets within our secure office premises, accessible only to authorized personnel.

5. Access and Correction

You have the right to request access to your psychological records. If you believe there is an error or omission in your file, you may request a correction. To review your file, please make a written request to your attending psychologist. Access may be limited in rare circumstances where providing the information could result in severe psychological harm to you or another individual.
